Why join WhereWomenConnect.com?
The reasons for joining WhereWomenConnect.com are endless. Maybe you’re hoping
to find other women to participate in a specific activity such as skiing or seeing a movie.
Maybe you’ve lost touch with old friends
or want to expand your current group of friends. Maybe you’re ready to make life
happen by ridding yourself of the excuse: ‘I have nobody to do stuff with’.
Regardless of your reason, the women that join us share one common goal — to connect
with other women for real world activities. WhereWomenConnect.com facilitates this goal by
providing a free, online community where women can expand their interests and facilitate
friendships for life offline.
Is there a membership fee?
Joining and using WhereWomenConnect.com is absolutely free. You decide what money you want
to spend when you head offline to enjoy activities and events such as an afternoon of golf
or a dinner out with your new friends.
Who can join?
WOMEN of all ages and stages of life are invited to join WhereWomenConnect.com. Whether
you’re in your twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, sixties or beyond; whether you’re
married, single, divorced or widowed; whether you have no children, you’re a new mom,
you’re raising teenagers or you’re finding your nest a little empty; whether you’re interested
in rock climbing, the arts, chick-flicks, reading books, shopping, running, spa days or
a night on the town — as long as you have a positive spirit, a desire to make connections
with other women and a willingness to get out there and make life happen - WhereWomenConnect.com welcomes you!
PLEASE NOTE: WhereWomenConnect.com is a place for women (not men!) to connect with other
women in a comfortable, friendship oriented, ‘guy-free’ environment. If you’re looking to
meet men or date other women we encourage you to try out one of the many dating websites
that can facilitate such connections. Please
contact us if you are contacted by anyone
not on the site for legitimate reasons.
How do I join?
Joining is as simple as 1-2-3. First, register your basic information such as your username,
password, email address, and city. Next, select the options that best describe you, such as
your marital status, favourite activities and interests. Finally, add a personal message
and/or photos. Remember, the more complete your description, the better chance you have of
connecting with people of like interests!
How does the site work?
Once you create a profile you can start connecting with the WhereWomenConnect.com community by:
-
Searching profiles and emailing members with common interests directly. Perhaps you’re
looking to make connections with women that are single, work from home, or share a common
interest in anything from scrapbooking to sailing.
-
Posting and responding to events on the ‘Activity Boards’.
Why not create a post looking for members to join you for those belly dancing lessons you’ve
always wanted to take or to see your favourite band in concert? Likewise, you can respond to
postings from other members looking for a local walking buddy or a few new friends for a girl’s night out.
-
Making conversation on the ‘Discussion Boards’.
Contribute your questions, ideas and opinions about current events, women-centred topics
and Hollywood gossip — we’d love to hear from you!
- Browsing our ‘Directory’.
Discover local events, health & beauty connections, sports stuff, and other businesses
and services relevant to today’s woman.
- Reading our ‘Articles for Women’ section.
Read articles on topics related to women and find out what’s new at WhereWomenConnect.com.
How does the search function work?
To search the site, enter one or more keywords into the ‘Search’
box and select ‘Go’. This will take you to the main search page
and display the search results for the keywords you entered in the
tabs ‘Friends’, ‘Activity Board’, ‘Discussion Board’ and ‘Directory’.
From this page you can view the results for each tab individually and/or
you can re-enter more specific information to search in a particular
section. For example, you can search member profiles from ‘Friends’
by entering ‘User Information’ into the boxes called keywords, username,
location, or activities. Once you’ve entered your search criteria click on
‘Search For Friends’. You can further refine these results by selecting
‘User Preferences’. You can click on the individual search results to
see a member’s full profile.
What if there are no other members signed up from my area?
Remember that just as friendships need time to blossom and grown, so will this site. Chances
are if you’re interested in signing up, there are other like-minded women interested in
signing up — some closer than you may think. Take the initiative to join even if you’re
from a city not yet on our map and WhereWomenConnect.com will endeavour to increase marketing
initiatives in your area.
Why not help us get the word out? Consider adding us on
facebook,
following us on
twitter
or sharing the site with other women that you know by word of mouth.
What if I want to organize or advertise an event for WhereWomenConnect.com members?
- Posting an event on the Activity Boards. If you are interested in organizing a group
of women for a book club, a girls night out, a day of skiing, or some other activity — that’s
great! Our activity boards and private emailing system are great tools to get a group of
women together for such activities; however, members cannot collect money or profit from
these events in any way! For example, if you’re looking for some women to join you for an
afternoon of golf, everyone should pay for themselves when they attend the golf course, rather
than send money to you directly.
- If you would like to organize an event that requires you to collect money, track RSVPs
and/or if you profit directly from the event in any way (financial or otherwise) you MUST
contact us. This allows us to more closely monitor the relevance, legitimacy and standards of such
events for our members, it helps us to keep the activity boards free of people trying to
solicit members for personal gain and it provides us with the opportunity to work with you
in determining the best solutions for sharing your event with other members. Events meeting
with the approval of WhereWomenConnect.com will appear on the Activity Boards under the
section called ‘Where Women Connect Events’.
- Advertising an event. If you would like to advertise an event, send us an
advertising
inquiry. We’d be happy to add the event to our
Directory for a small fee.
- When in doubt, please
contact us to share your ideas — we’d love to hear them!
How do I post to the activity board/discussion board?
From the
Activity Board or the
Discussion Board
click on a category that interests you, such as ‘Introduce Yourself’. From this screen you have three choices:
-
Post Topic - To start a new topic select ‘Post Topic’. Give your topic a name so that others will know what you
are writing about. When you’re done writing your message, hit ‘Submit’.
-
Read Topic - Select the topic you would like to read. After you read the topic and any additional posts, consider
posting your own reply.
- Post Reply - To reply to a topic select ‘Post Reply’. Type your message and hit ‘Submit’ when you’re done.
How do I retrieve a lost password or username?
From the homepage, select ‘Login’. Choose ‘Forgot Username’ or ‘Forgot Password’
and follow the prompts. You will receive an email with either a link to reset your password or the username that you requested.
How do I update my profile?
Go to your profile and click on ‘Profile EDIT’. Select the (+) symbol for the section you want to edit to expand the contents and make your changes.
Don’t forget to ‘Save Changes’ after you make your updates.
How do I hide or limit the members that see my full profile?
Anonymous (guest) users cannot see your full profile.
These users see only a limited profile which consists of your
username, photo, age and location. Making your profile private
also hides your complete profile from other members of the site except your
approved friends. To make your profile private go to your
profile and click on ‘Profile EDIT’. In the ‘Personal Information’
section set the ‘Private’ option to ‘Y’ which will allow only approved
friends to see your full profile.
How do I block members?
Blocking a user will prevent that user from finding you in a search, viewing your profile and sending you messages.
To block a user go to ‘Friends’ from the menu bar and select the friend(s) you wish to block.
Click on ‘Block User’ to block the selected member(s). If the member you wish to block is
not on your ‘Friends’ page, then visit that member’s profile and select ‘Block User’
located underneath the user’s photo.
How do I delete my account?
A deleted account is an inactive account. Inactive accounts cannot be viewed by members or found during a search. To make
your account inactive go to your profile and click on ‘Profile EDIT’. In the ‘Personal Information’ section set the ‘Active’ option
to ‘N’ to de-active your account. You will not be able to post messages, add friends or engage in any other profile activities. You can only re-activate your account.
Will personal information, such as my personal email address, be kept private?
WhereWomenConnect.com will never trade, sell or in any other way violate the sanctity of
your personal information. From time to time, you may receive emails directly from
WhereWomenConnect.com offering special discounts, event notifications or site updates.
If you receive any other advertisements, spam, or suspicious emails in your WhereWomenConnect.com
inbox, please contact us immediately.
How do I report errors, spam, inappropriate use or other problems with the site?
Simply
contact us with your concern and we will address it as soon as possible!
What safety precautions should I follow?
As much as WhereWomenConnect.com wants to foster fun and friendship for our members, we also
want our members to follow safe practices when meeting other users both online and in person:
- Follow your women’s intuition. If someone asks inappropriate or overly personal
questions, seems deceptive or suspicious in how they present themselves, seems overly
negative or unstable, or makes you feel uncomfortable in any way - cease contact! If you’re
not ready to give out your personal email address or phone number — don’t. Members can
communicate with you through our private email system. If you don’t like the vibe or the
energy you get when you meet someone, don’t meet them again. In fact, if they make you feel
uncomfortable or unsafe, leave the meeting right away and if necessary, contact the authorities. Never allow yourself to feel
pressured into compromising your values or your safety to please a stranger. You can also
block users from seeing your profile and/or contact us with your concerns.
- Keep all banking or credit card information private. If someone you meet online asks
for this type of information or requests money, regardless of the reason, it is a scam.
Please report any requests for money, personal financial information, unsolicited advertisements,
suspicious emails, or spam of any kind via our contact us section.
- Meet-up with other members in PUBLIC. When meeting up with other users for the first
time, get together at a mutually convenient public location. DO NOT meet at someone’s home
or at a secluded location and DON’T offer or accept a ride — this person is still a stranger.
For instance, if you are looking to meet other mothers, plan outings at a local coffee
shop, restaurant, library, or park to get to know each other until you feel comfortable and
confident enough to schedule play dates or book clubs at a user’s home.
- Remain aware of your surroundings at all times. Simply put — stay sober and keep an
eye on your drink, your wallet and your whereabouts. Bring your cell phone and consider
sharing the details of your meeting with a personal friend or family member.
- Please contact us if you encounter any activity on WhereWomenConnect.com that undermines
the comfort and security of our members. While we will do our best to monitor the site,
your assistance will go a long way in helping us maintain the integrity of WhereWomenConnect.com!
